Sharon's Birthday Party

makin' it legal
Moving to a new home + planning a wedding = no free time to make videos. However, I am trying to at least put a few shorter pieces up until the chaos has faded. This brief video shows Mark, me, and our officiant/friend Stephen on our trek to the Marin County Civic Center (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, fyi). We got our marriage license and Stephen got deputized to perform our ceremony next month. It's all very official and very real. Music is, appropriately enough, the theme song to the TV classic "What's Happening".

Laura's Birthday Weekend
What better way to celebrate your birthday than by renting a great house on the river? For Laura's recent birthday, she and Krista invited Timmy and I up for a gorgeous and fun weekend in Guerneville. There was kayaking, darts, billiards, wine tasting and more. What a weekend! Music is by Sir Elton John.

Returning to Yosemite
Mark and I returned to Yosemite again this past April with Mark and Stephen. The weather was the coldest and rainiest we've ever experienced here, but it brought a new kind of beauty to enjoy. Instead of going on ambitious hikes, we found ourselves indoors a lot more, but no one complained. After all, there's always next year. Music is "Free Ride" by Nick Drake.

Nuptuality
Marriage is a funny thing. It's a festive thing. It's a tacky thing. It's a sacred thing. And apparently, it's an 'under attack' thing too. I'm starting my own this fall, which has forced me to enter the wacky culture of weddings and figure out where my fiancé and I belong. All I've figured out so far is that a wedding is an excuse to buy things, sell things, get publicity, and get drunk. But ultimately it's a very self-involved thing, so of course OUR wedding will be perfect. Music is "There is Love" by The Captain & Tennille.

Napa Living
Our dear friends Mark and Stephen have friends who offer up their Napa Valley home for their use every once in a while. And sometimes (more often than we deserve), they invite us along. We've enjoyed being there at all times of the year, but I think summer might be the very best. Music is "A Summer Wasting" by Belle and Sebastian.

Cruisin'
My wonderful, generous parents took the whole family on a cruise to Aruba and Curacao last week. It was my first cruise, and it was quite an experience! I've never done so much of nothing so many days in a row. Loved it. Thanks Mom and Dad! Music is "Sea Cruise" by Frankie Ford.

Englishtown Market
If you're ever in Central New Jersey on a weekend, check out Englishtown Auction. My fiance Mark went here a lot with his Dad when he was a kid (he still calls it Englishtown Market) and it's got it all. Whether you need to buy tube socks, perfume that hasn't been made since 1984, or a giant pickle, you're sure to find it here. Music is "Last Date" by Floyd Cramer.
